The Sunday Salon - January 9

I'm still working on getting over the seasonal flu - still getting over the cough and the sniffles, but thank goodness the fever is gone. We thought that my husband also had the flu, but I guess it should have been obvious that it was something else when his symptoms were so different. He ended up going to urgent care on Friday and being diagnosed with Strep Throat. He's on antibiotics now and the rest of us are hoping not to catch it.

We've both been trying to get a lot of rest, but we still have things that need to get done. I had thought that my cough was gone, and so went to band practice this week, which was fine (and a lot of fun), but then the next day my cough was back again.

My boys had their piano recital on Friday (which my husband couldn't go to because he'd just found out he was contagious). It was my six-year-old's first recital, so he and I were taking photos of ourselves beforehand to ease the tension.

Both of the boys did well at the recital, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that my oldest was second to last in the program - meaning that there was only one other student playing more advanced music than he was. It makes sense since their piano teacher instructs mostly young children, but I was still impressed with how far he had come in his playing.

This photo of my oldest was of him posing after the recital. He was far more serious and tense when he was performing.

Today I plan to rest as much as possible, but I do have to take one of my sons to a birthday party. Other than that though I'm going to be taking it easy and reading more of The Summerhouse by Jude Deveraux.
