Best & Worst of 2010 - Time Travel Fiction

Here are my favorite and least favorite time travel fiction reads of 2010 (books that I read in 2010, not just books that were published in 2010).

Best:

Doomsday Book by Connie Willis I love books with time travel elements, so Doomsday Book was an easy sell for me. What surprised me was that this historical fiction/time travel book was so good on all levels: great plot, great characters, and interesting historic details.






When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead Fans of Madeleine LEngles A Wrinkle in Time will probably love this middle grade/young adult story about friendship and loyalty with a bit of time travel and science thrown in. I was completely enchanted by When You Reach Me.





The Post-Birthday World by Lionel Shriver - Although not strictly time travel, this book tells of two alternate realities happening at the same time, so I thought I would include it on the time travel list.! This ex cellent book gives us a look at two realistic, but different, realities that spin off from a pivotal choice in the main character's life.




Worst:

An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon I feel guilty adding this to my worst list because Gabaldon is one of my favorite authors. I absolutely love the Outlander series (of which this is book 7), but this was my least favorite book in the series so far. Over-descriptive sex scenes that were just weird and made me uncomfortable had a lot to do with my dislike of this book. It wasnt a terrible book, just far below what Ive come to expect from the series.
